The same profile identifies Sheriff Kody Simpson, Undersheriff Tony Taylor, and Jail Administrator Cliff Taylor. Those details are important because the sheriff website linked by OSA displayed a coming-soon page during the research inspection, not a full jail operations page.

The jail holds the local slice of the Atoka County inmate population. That includes people arrested by county deputies, Atoka Police Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, municipal officers, and other agencies that book into the county jail. It can also include people held on warrants, detainers, local sentences, or transfer status. Howard McLeod Correctional Center and Mack Alford Correctional Center are different systems because ODOC operates them for sentenced state prisoners.

Atoka County Jail Population

The research file did not locate an official rated capacity for Atoka County Jail. It did locate two useful population figures. The Jail Data Initiative reported a 2024 average daily population of 76 for Atoka County. The Kinetic roster API returned 44 listed rows when inspected on June 25, 2026. Those numbers should not be treated as the same metric. One is an annual average, while the other is a point-in-time public roster count.

Because capacity was not found in official sources, the Atoka County Jail should not be described as over capacity or below capacity. The most accurate public statement is that local custody is tracked through the current roster, while the annual average comes from JDI's roster-derived profile.

Atoka Police Department is at a different W. Liberty Road address and should not be treated as the jail entrance. City arrests may still be booked at Atoka County Jail, but custody confirmation should use the Kinetic roster or the sheriff's phone line.
